Philadelphia & Cadbury’s: A tasty partnership
Cadbury’s has been a British institution since its birth nearly 200 years ago, Philadelphia the product of American multinational confectionary company Kraft. When Kraft bought Cadbury’s two years ago, nationalists and chocolate lovers alike lamented the end of an era. How could these two companies possibly work in partnership? Kraft have just answered this question – with their new range of Philadelphia with Cadbury’s cream cheese spread.
What’s this, chocolate flavoured cheese you say? Preposterous perhaps, but hold that thought. Despite the Brits cultural infamy for lack ofadventure in the taste department, many years ago we accepted Petit Filous – which let’s face it, is a desert made from cheese – and damn it we can do it again.
What’s more this is not some crazy experience Kraft recently conjured up. Their continental success with Philadelphia with Milka will undoubtedly have something to do with this brave introduction to the UK market.
While chocolate cheese may not be to everyone’s taste, we will be waiting, spoon in hand for the inevitable brand extensions – Philadelphia and Cadbury’s cheesecake anyone?
